Director of Partnerships & Fundraising (Maternity Leave Cover)

Role Description:

We are looking for an experienced and passionate individual to cover a 14 month maternity leave for the Director of Fundraising & Partnerships. Ideally the contract would start mid-May 2023 through to mid-July 2024, but is subject to change depending on our needs, and with flexibility for the right candidate. The role is part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and will report directly to the CEO.

This opportunity will suit a candidate who is a self-starter and can ‘hit the ground running’, with past philanthropic, partnerships, fundraising or business development experience. The individual should be confident to oversee our Partnerships & Fundraising strategy and day-to-day operations, including relationship management, pipeline development,  income projections, grants management, individual and community giving, events and campaigns. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join a leading NGO addressing a unique social issue, and to have a meaningful impact on some of Hong Kong’s most vulnerable women and children.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Play an active role in the SLT, supporting all aspects of organisational management, good governance and Board engagement
  • Represent PathFinders externally, as needed

Strategy

  • Oversee PathFinders Fundraising & Partnerships strategy to achieve 2023/2024 income targets and progress towards organisational strategy and programme goals
  • Work closely with the rest of the SLT, CEO and Board to progress our long-term Fundraising & Partnerships strategy and organisation-wide goals

Finances

  • Maintain income projections, and monitor actual income and donations, working with the SLT to manage our monthly P&L and YE forecasts
  • Work closely with Finance and Operations to manage all administrative aspects of fundraising

Business Development & Relationship Management

  • Nurture new and existing relationships across all donors types (foundations, corporates, individuals and community organisations) to increase engagement, develop new partnerships, increase donor retention and acquire new donors
  • Oversee all grant management, including pipeline development, grant-writing, due diligence and reporting, ensuring sufficient submissions and success to achieve our income targets and major grants strategy
  • Develop funding and partnership proposals in written and pitch format
  • Oversee the donor experience, including donation acknowledgements, thank yous and receipts, impact sharing, and regular communications and engagements

Fundraising Events & Campaigns

  • Manage all campaign and events planning, including crowdfunding appeals, fundraising events, donor appreciation and engagement events, annual gala dinner, and management of Events Manager (where necessary)

Brand & Communications

  • Manage/ support all donor-focused communications eg. newsletter, impact stories, impact reports
  • Contribute to enhancing PathFinders’ brand and profile, and represent PathFinders as needed at industry engagements

Systems

  • Oversee ongoing improvements and management of our Salesforce CRM system to support donor management
  • Manage Fundraising & Partnerships area of our Google Drive, ensure accurate donor and donations records

People

  • Oversee volunteer management
  • Manage the Partnerships Manager to ensure achievement of Partnerships strategy and goals
  • Manage the Events Manager (external consultant hired on project basis)
  • Support on other ad hoc tasks and projects as needed

Selection Criteria

Candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • 10+ years experience in philanthropic, fundraising, business development, account management, marketing or the NGO space
  • University degree in a relevant field
  • A track record of effective management and leadership
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, able to pitch, persuade and negotiate with demanding stakeholders
  • A strategic and analytical thinker, with excellent attention to detail
  • Skilled at managing finances and budgets
  • Strong work ethic, and able to juggle projects and work to tight deadlines
  • Warm and friendly, able to engage partners and donors passionately
  • Resilient and able to ‘roll up your sleeves’ – this is not a job for the faint of heart, or for those with a large ego
  • Able to work independently, and across teams
  • Excellent written and spoken English, and ideally Cantonese
  • Fluent in Microsoft Presentations, Word and Excel, and ideally Google Drive
  • Experience managing accounts in a CRM system such as Salesforce

Position Information

  • This is ideally a full-time position, although we are open to flexible working arrangements
  • The expected salary range is HK$35,000-40,000/month, depending on experience
  • The candidate would ideally start in mid-May 2023 and work through to mid-July 2024, but dates are subject to change depending on our needs, and we are flexible for the right candidate

Grants Manager/Senior Manager

We are searching for an experienced and passionate individual to join us in this new position to oversee all grant management, including pipeline management, applications writing, donor relations and reporting.

Based on our fundraising strategy, the majority of PathFinders’ HKD11million+ income budget over the coming years is to be achieved through grants from philanthropic institutions, foundations, corporate foundations and community organisations. Given the significance and criticality of this income stream PathFinders is creating a new role to add much-needed capacity to the team.

This role will suit a candidate with some past philanthropic or fundraising experience, who is looking to expand their learning and responsibilities. This is an exciting new role that will help strengthen our funding foundations and propel our strategic programming; it’s a great opportunity to gain a deep understanding of NGO operations, and to have a meaningful impact on one of Hong Kong’s most unsupported and vulnerable communities.

Key Responsibilities

This role will oversee all aspects of grant management, including pipeline management, applications writing, donor relations and reporting. Key responsbilities include;

  • Donor Relations – Initiate and develop new donor relationships, and nurture existing ones to increase their engagement in our work, and increase our donor acquisition and retention rates
  • Pipeline – Develop and manage a pipeline of new grant opportunities, ensuring sufficient submissions and success to achieve our income targets and major grants strategy
  • Applications – Work with our senior leadership and programmes team to develop strategic, impactful, accurate and compelling grant applications. Support donor enquiries and their due diligence processes
  • Grant management – Oversee management of all live grants, guiding the programmes team and senior leadership to ensure we deliver impactful projects, comply with all grant requirements and maintain strong donor relations. Use and maintain Salesforce records and functionality to oversee grants
  • Admin & Finance – Work closely with Finance and Operations to manage all administrative aspects of grants and restricted donations
  • Programme Strategy – Work closely with the programmes team to support their strategic plans, and provide feedback from the perspective of donors and strategic philanthropy
  • Reporting – Manage donor reporting to ensure accurate and timely submissions, working with the programmes team and senior leadership as needed
  • Fundraising Strategy – Drive the ‘major grants’ component of our Fundraising Strategy, overseeing reporting, and providing feedback and advice to the senior leadership to develop this strategy and associated income budgets
  • Leadership Team – Candidates with sufficient experience for a Senior Manager position would be expected to participate and contribute in Leadership meetings and projects.
  • Brand – Contribute to enhancing PathFinders’ brand and profile, and represent PathFinders as needed at industry engagements
  • Support other areas of Partnerships & Fundraising as needed
