Hanya karena seorang perempuan hamil tidak berarti dia tidak mampu memenuhi tugas pekerjaannya atau menjadi tidak efisien. Meskipun demikian, bukanlah merupakan pelanggaran hukum jika pemutusan kontrak kerja pekerja perempuan hamil tersebut disebabkan karena kesalahan yang serius atau perilaku buruk yang dapat dibuktikan.<\/p><p>Majikan tidak berhak <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-primary-color\">memecat <\/mark>pekerjanya karena sedang hamil atau cuti melahirkan. Berdasarkan undang-undang ketenagakerjaan Hong Kong, majikan tidak boleh memecat pekerja hamil yang memiliki kontrak kerja dan telah memberikan pemberitahuan kehamilan kepada majikan. Jika seorang pekerja yang hamil diberhentikan sebelum dia memberikan pemberitahuan tentang kehamilannya, dia dapat segera memberikan pemberitahuan tersebut ketika menerima pemberitahuan pemutusan hubungan kerja. Dalam hal ini, majikannya harus membatalkan pemecatan tersebut. Majikan juga tidak dapat mendiskriminasi seseorang karena kehamilannya.
